The State Intellectual Property Office shall conduct an examination in accordance with the Patent Law of the People's Republic of China, decide to grant the patent right, issue an invention patent certificate and register it in the patent register. Patent rights take effect from the date of authorization announcement. The term of patent rights is twenty years, starting from the date of application. The patent certificate records the legal status at the time of registration of the patent right.
